April 10, 2007 General Meeting
Meeting called to order by Vicki Hibbert at 7pm the Green Room of the Spotlight Theatre. Tony Alley of the volunteer staff gave the group a history of the building and the theatre.
OSU Medical Sciences representatives Marty Bonick (CEO) and Lisa Patterson told the group of the history of the medical center and how OSU became involved. The state is contributing at total of $40 million for renovations over a four year period.
Plans are for a a Super Clinic to compensate for Tulsa as the largest city without a public hospital in the USA. They would also like to expand to the east and north and create a medical corridor.
Vicki reported on the historic designation and that the Preservation Commission recommendations would be forthcoming in a week. If approved, the recommendation will be forwarded to the National Park Service, Department of Interior. She also pointed out the construction site for the Route 66 museum and plaza at Southwest Blvd. and Riverside Drive.
Vicki also advised the group of appropriate action to take if you have a concern: call 911, turn on porch lights, talk to their neighbors, call the Mayor's Action Committee.
