March 13, 2007 General Meeting
The meeting was called to order by President, Vicki Hibbert, at 8:05 p.m. Outstanding attendance resulted from the 300 letters sent to residents by the Preservation Commission. With Ray Luth absent, there was no treasurer's report. Meeting minutes for February were dispensed with. All meeting minutes can be found on our website.
Meeting started with Tulsa Tough report by Malcolm McCullah. To be held June 1-2-3 using the same routes as 2006 event: downtown and Riverside. There will be new sponsors, and a new place for concessions on Riverside. Example would be Lucky and Scott to set up a smoker and RVNA would man it. He reported excellent feedback from participants on how wonderful Tulsa is.
Historic Preservation presentation by Amanda Court (Tulsa) and Jim Galverson (State Historic Society) pointed out that this is voluntary program started in 1966 and administered by the National Park Service. We have four eligible areas: Vista Heights, Carlton Place, Stonebreaker Heights, and Riverside. A map is on our website. Handouts were provided at the meeting
While no zoning will be changed and there are no monetary benefits, there can possibly be tax credits for mechanical repairs or other rehabilitation.
A final Tulsa meeting will be held in July with the Tulsa Preservation Commission. The National Park Service will respond in 45 days (September) and typically follows the recommendation for approval.
There are five areas in Tulsa that currently have the designation. This project will document our properties.
Vicki Hibbert quickly reviewed the Business Improvement District formation meeting with area commercial property owners and the positive effect it will have on our neighborhood in street scape and landscape.
Meeting ended with the announcement that trees were planted at Stick Ball Park today!
