Message from RVNA President

Hi Neighbors,

I'd like to thank everyone for the excellent turn out to our meeting Tuesday March 10:

Here is what is new in our Neighborhood

Vision 2025 Gateway Project: The site plans are complete, you can view them here (requires Adobe pdf Acrobat Viewer) and we have approval from traffic. The site plan is approved and has been sent to bid out the jobs. We should see movement on this very soon.

Monuments will be installed in the following four locations:

*Riverside and Lawton in the traffic median

*Riverside and Houston on the Spotlight Theater right of way easment

*West 18th and Boulder on the right of way easment east of Council Oak Park

*Elwood just south of West 13th St

Below are the specifics of this project and here is a picture from the site plan. Each column will be 8 feet tall.

Riverview Master Plan: Riverview is in a unique position to see growth in the "Uptown" and River front portions of our district and we want you to have a say! We have the potential to have a great number of the services that we need either a short walk or drive away. We have something that most other neighborhoods don't: Downtown in our front yard and the river in the back.

We need your input on they types of development you want to see or don't want to see in our neighborhood. What should be developed and what should be protected? Give us your ideas, think big.  We will collect your feedback and add them to our master plan. We will work directly with Dr Crowley and the planning department to update our plan and get your ideas out there.

Historic Plaques: We are ready to order plaques to celebrate the historic designation of our neighborhood. Since the Riverview Neighborhood consists of four historic districts

Carlton Place contact Ron Miller ronaldrmiller@cox.net

Buena Vista contact Gary Huck: 583-7426 gkuck@thermal-tulsa.com

Stone Breaker Heights contact Jerry Mitchell: 629-1430 mitchellagency@sbcglobal.net

Riverview contact Lana Taylor: 583-1302 rtaylor@kingtaylorryan.com

Each will be responsible for  a sub-committee from each area to choose the plaque that they want, the exact wording and take orders for it. The wording on the plaque should have at least this content:

THIS PROPERTY LIES WITHIN THE HISTORIC

BUENA VISTA PARK DISTRICT OF RIVERVIEW

HAS BEEN PLACED ON THE

NATIONAL REGISTER

OF HISTORIC PLACES

BY THE UNITED STATES

DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR

 – PLATTED 1908

Please contact me if you want to lead the committee for your area or if you are interested in a plaque: ronaldrmiller@cox.net

Plaques are solid bronze in the following price ranges:

             7" X 5" $86.00

            10" X 7" $119.00

            11" X 8" $146.00

            15" X 12" $265.00

Realtors can tell you that a historic plaque makes a home instantly more desirable and can help increase value should you plan to sell (Please don't! We love having you as our neighbor!)

Sincerely,

Anne Pollard
